Overthinking: You’re doing something right

There’s a lot in life that can happen that is completely out of your control. Being an over thinker, automatically you hear one thing and you see it happen in your head, step-by-step from beginning to end (in multiple ways may I add)

This is clearly not a perk of being an over thinker. Or is it?

Some ways overthinking is actually helping

  • You’re probably the reasonable one in your group of friends.

Have you ever felt like your friends just don’t know what they’re thinking when an idea comes to mind? I mean a bad one, one they clearly haven’t thought through. They usually text and/or call you to see what you think of the whole thing.

Why? Cause you’re an over thinker, they know the minute the idea passed their lips you’ve thought exactly why this won’t work and whether or not it should actually be done.

Obviously being the reasonable one has its perks.

  • You think your own decisions through before actually going through with them.

Okay, so maybe you sit on an important thing until the last minute deadline and that’s not ALWAYS a good thing, but you my dear have thought about this choice seven ways to Sunday and clearly you now have an idea of how this will definitely pan out.

You feel completely fine at the time you make your decision even if the minute it’s set in stone scenarios start to play out in your head all over again. You’re an over thinker, it’s second nature to you. Scenarios are bound to make an appearance but what’s done is done. There are just some things you CANNOT control. So in the words of Queen Elsa, let it go.

  • You never overspend when going out or make rash financial decisions.

You’re young, we get it! Overspending can be in an issue, but guess who budgets appropriately and doesn’t have to worry about not having enough money for an emergency? Yes! You!

This is something I feel is incredibly important, you have to always make sure you’re living within your means. There is nothing wrong with that! Read that again, yes I said nothing. What others don’t understand is going out for the night is something you actually pondered and weighed out on your scale of importance. You over thought that till there was nothing left. Clearly, you have made the most logical choice based on the fact that you are overly cautious and very much aware of what you should not waste your money on.

  • You will never just jump from one relationship to the next or in some cases into any relationship at all.

This I believe is something that everyone should overthink but of course that’s not the case.

You give yourself time to think about if you’re investing your time in a person who is worth it, who will stay, who won’t run at the first sign of who you are and what you’re about.

Over thinking your relationship status or giving yourself some time to recover from a previous heartache is absolutely okay.

You’re not going to be that person that posts absolutely everything on social media with the thought in the back of your mind that maybe next month this won’t be the same person, you have no clue how long this one will stick around and you don’t want to feel completely stupid if it doesn’t work out. That’s clearly something you shouldn’t have a problem over thinking.

Overthinking can easily be something that can haunt you. There are obviously some perks but you take the good with the bad. I say, take it for what it is. Make the best out of your over thinking habits and do with them what you will. Just don’t let it control you, remember there will always be things you will not be able to control. The fact that you’re an over thinker just happens to be one of them.

  1. Jesus Christ! Doesn’t over thinking make your brain hurt? Just do it. You know how much thought I put into moving to Orlando? 0 and it was the best experience of my life, I worked, I made friends, I entered your life and now you have me duh! So LIKE NIKE SAYS, JUST DO IT!! DONT OVER THINK JUST DO IT! *Goes and plays in traffic*

    1. Lmao. You’re ridiculous, but this is one of the many reasons why I love you. I know, but not overthinking is easier said than done. So I mean…I have tried but have been very unsuccessful.

  2. I love this blog post!♡ I’ve kind of learnt to control my over thinking habits, before all I ended up was with stress. Now I go with the flow & just take things as they come, like you wrote: you take the good with the bad. Such a good read! I’d really appreciate it, if you took your time to visit my blog too😊 keep up the good blog posts. X

    1. Thanks! I try not to overthink but honestly it comes naturally and it’s difficult. But sometimes I do find that I catch myself and stop it. I’m glad you enjoyed it! Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you. I have been slacking on my blogging! haha! I will definitely check your blog out.
